Engineering department
Our engineering department is specialised in the design of lifting beams, lifting accessories and handling tooling without load-bearing welds. Our teams verify the sizing of structural elements through calculation and finite element analysis. They thus apply standards and regulations such as FEM, EN 13001 and EN 13155. Furthermore, we have full command of the design of electrical cabinets and automation systems fitted to our machines. We also define all hydraulic systems in their entirety. CIPAL manages projects from the specification phase through to regulatory load tests. We then support you during the initial commissioning.
Machining
Our production workshop is equipped with conventional lathes, CNC lathes and machining centres. This equipment thus enables us to cover the majority of our activities with the best possible responsiveness. For the machining of large-dimension components, we collaborate with partners who are also ISO 9001 certified, equipped with suitable machine tool facilities.
Welding
Our welders enable us to process 90% of our products in-house. Our welding personnel hold the required qualifications and our welding procedures are fully established. CIPAL can thus provide you with a welding file and the associated qualifications. Furthermore, our lifting beams contain no load-bearing welds. For large-dimension frames, we call upon our preferred partner.
Painting
Our workshop is equipped with a spray booth for applying paint systems suited to low-corrosivity environments. For handling equipment destined for corrosive environments, we collaborate with a qualified partner. This partner applies paint systems such as C3H, C5H and IM2, listed in the ACQPA and EDF specifications. We then establish a painting protocol to monitor every stage of the process.
Assembly
We carry out mechanical and hydraulic assemblies as well as electrical wiring in-house. Bringing together machining and assembly activities within the same workshop strengthens our responsiveness. It thus enables us to ensure the full functionality of our products from the very first use.

Regulatory Testing
We carry out the mandatory regulatory load tests on our premises, in the presence of an accredited body, prior to commissioning. Our Le Bignon site is equipped with two indoor hydraulic test benches of 100 t each. Outdoors, we furthermore have an adjustable-span test bench rated at 150 t. Where required, we also design dedicated test tooling.
Full-Scale Functional Testing
Where required by the client, we subject our products to a testing protocol validated by both parties. CIPAL then carries out these full-scale tests on its premises, either with a client component or with an internally manufactured mock-up.
Our Trusted Partner
For projects requiring large-dimension components, CIPAL relies on a qualified Italian partner. This partner operates a machine tool facility capable of processing components up to 20 metres in length and 5 metres in width. It thus intervenes on the most demanding projects involving the machining and welding of large-scale structures.
This partner holds ISO 3834 and EN 1090-2 certifications. A qualified welding engineer defines and supervises all welding operations in accordance with standard EN 15614. Furthermore, all welders are qualified in compliance with standard EN 9606. These guarantees enable us to provide you with complete documentation on the processes and qualifications implemented.
Where required by the client, our partner also carries out all non-destructive testing on welds. These tests are performed by qualified in-house operators or by accredited external contractors. Finally, its equipment enables 3D dimensional measurements and inspections to be carried out on components up to 20 metres in length and 5 metres in width.
